I'll take the Buick sign Seth.
For all of you...everyone knows I've been to all of Vic's and now Seth's auctions over the years. They are MUCH better the past couple of years as Seth works hard and early to find the best stuff. I understand he has a new auctionere this year which hopefully will speed things up. This needs to move as fast as the Aumann Auctions so we don't have to be loading at 10pm. I'm bringing a full trailer load belonging to Randy and Cookie from Vista, Ca. and they will fly in to see their stuff sell. See you all there

Do we want to start a pool on the closest guess as to what the Roman will bring?

That is what I would have guessed Dick. I will say $9000 because I think I will be there and I may have a few extra bucks in my pocket :0

Guys...the Roman is actually unrestored. Someone brushed it white, but it's not as pretty as the picture. Although, it is completely original 100%. The cylinder is great and it has some kind of gallon indicator that I have never, ever seen before. There are three of them in there. I'm thinking about pulling one out and having them reproduced as a universal indicator because they are so cool. They are made like an American with the set screws.

According to PhotoShop, this is the indicators that Seth is talking about.

Cast BRASS, separate numbers w/ set screw to a BRASS rod.

I know what they are, ANYONE care to guess ?

Hint: VERY FEW PUMPS KNOWN TO EXIST.
It is misidentified in the Book [right company, wrong #].

Dick...IMPRESSIVE use of photoshop. Wonder how three sets got in this roman. The cylinder has not been out of this pump...at least not in the last 50 years.

Jar lid does not have to be removed on most pumps to clean the cylinder AFTER they remove the indicators.

Thought we would have a few guessers !
Anyway, these indicaters were 1st used in the WAYNE 490, & in the early 491/492's.
Even then they were COST SENSITIVE [cast brass VS stamped alum.].

Gettin' back to the subject of this topic (?).........Seth, when are we going to see pictures of ALL the goodies? Like maybe the catalog on Bidspotter? Haven't seen anything yet that would convince me to drive to Oklahoma, but I'm guessing you probably have some stuff!!

I talked to Seth yesterday. First off there is going to be a great "garage sale" during and after the preview on Friday evening. Seth is going to sell all his old pumps and large supply of old parts for "dirt cheap" as he is going to move to new digs. You pump guys can't miss this.
Next, Seth just picked up a loat of over 100 signs from a friend of mine in Ohio and I'm bringing a trailer full of stuff from Randy & Cookie Williams in San Diego that they are putting in the auction. This is going to be BIG and FUN. Seth does not usually have his brochure ready until a couple of weeks out. It's hard putting these things together, taking all the pictures and then get someonen to print. PLEASE, any and all of you who come to the auction introduce yourself to me. I wont' remember your name half hour later but I'll try

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess $12,500. The last totally complete roman I sold brought $12,000 and that was a year ago. Good publicity, great pump, premium prices.

I always mail the brochure about 3 weeks prior to the sale & post the online stuff about 10-14 days ahead of time. So many times, I get auction stuff in the mail a month or 6 weeks ahead of time and either lose it or forget about it. Anyway, after the consignments that I picked up in Columbia, I feel strongly that this will be our best sign auction ever. I don't think we'll ever top the globes from last year (84 globes brought $200K!!) but we still have over 50 consigned this year with many $2500+ pieces.

It's inside, but in a warehouse that's SORT of heated. The long range weather forecast has things DRASTICALLY improving for the week of the auction. 50 & sunny would be all right by me.
