Hello everyone!

What a fantastic month of January! Great participation everyone.

The pump of the month for this month is the M&S 70. These pumps have a great art deco design and unfortunately I do not own one yet. These pumps could've came with an ad glass top, no ad glass top, or even a script top. They could've came with two different sets of trim on the pumps too. Below is the pumps included in this month from Jack's book:

-M&S 70: 1937-1951. Computer pump with either ad glass top, no ad glass top, or a script top pump.

I hope we have a good month again. Thanks for the participation everyone!

This is a pump that was on my wish list years ago. I bought this one in 2008. I decided to fix it up in 2010 and at that time funds were a little tight so I did a oil based paint brush job. It got a little body work, some rattle can primer, wet sanded then brushed. This is the same pump that is in Jack`s book. The last picture is a before.

These are the early spear trim. I have only seen a couple pumps with these. Anyone with a M&S 70 wonder why there are so many holes in their door under the one piece spear trim? They were for all the individual early spear trim. You can see all the holes on the primed door. The one piece window bezel was also used on the earlier models. The four piece stainless bezel like on mine was used later.

Here is one of mine. It's an original Cities Service pump. Sorry, not a great pic with the doors off, but hey it shows the inside for future reference. Unfortunately it's the only pic I have of it right now. The pic is from when I bought it. Please don't mind the Chevrolet hubcaps being used as the globe. wink

Attached is a picture of my M&S 70 that I found in a barn about 10 miles from home when my daughter was taking horse riding lessons.

This is a pic of mine when I picked it up a few years ago. It’s buried behind some other pumps now in the exact same condition. The trim spears and globe were repops but it’s a solid pump. I’m planning on restoring it to Blue Sunoco with an original pole light globe combination that we’ve talked about on here before. Someday I’ll get around to it....

Here is a M&S 70 script top (not mine). Have not seen many of these, they must be rare.

Just ran across this one on ebay 302739798431. I like the Sunoco vertical porcelain strips. After seeing I wondered if there was any with a ad glass top so I did an image search and found one.

I saw these two M&S 70s in Sept. 2007 at the West Coast Santa Rosa gas bash. They were not for sale. The owner planned his trip to pick up the pumps on the trailer and go to the gas bash. I really wanted one of the M&S 70s. I talked to the owner and kept offering money up to $1400.00. He would not go for it. That is all I had on me. That does not sound like much but in 2007 that was a lot. In April 2010 I got this one for $700.00 (posted earlier) and that was a little high for the condition (not original or nicely restored). I am glad bought it because they are hard to come by these days with the ad glass top and prices are up.
