I actually remember the sign as a kid and always wondered what happened to it. On Facebook someone runs a page that shows old pictures of buildings in our town, called jamestown retro. He put the picture of the gas station and someone posted that they had seen the sign on the balcony of a local business. I drove by the business, which I've done literally 100s of time and sure enough it was on the balcony, barely visible. I talked to the owner of the business and it was his wife that saved it from the scrap yard. She offered to pay for the removal if she could have the sign. They had it for 30 years and had done nothing to it so I made a offer

Looks like the “Gas For Less” at bottom of sign was removed at some point in time and the Pennzoil sign was added. Cool sign!
