I just finished putting this one together. I like this sign because it's something other than just a round sign. Can anyone tell me what years this sign was used, and was it a pump sign? Does it fit in the erra of a M S 80 ?

I have about 150 vintage Pennzoil ads. The first time I see the owls show up is 1937 and the last time I see them in an ad is 1942. Now I would have thought this campaign went on longer than that, but that's what I see.

That sign is a fantasy piece as far as I know and was never used. It certainly is not a pump plate! Pennzoil used decals on their pumps as far as I know.

I'm not exactly sure of the production dates of the MS80 but I would bet it's after Pennzoil got out of the gas business and they never would have used MS80's at their stations.

Thanks Steven, I was curious . We have been trying to keep things as original / or authentic as possible but kinda getting tired of the same looking pumps, ( red & white : Mobil or Esso , blue & white :Esso , red or silver : Texaco, etc. ) , Saw that sign at Ron Scobie's , figured yellow &black would look good in the group and decided to go for it.

Here's a couple old pics for reference. Unfortunately they are not that good! If anyone has anything better or further info on this subject please post!
The one picture I did find interesting in that it shows larger rectangular signage on the pumps. Plates or decals??? The one clearly looks like a "Z" for Zip. The other can't make out at all.
