I have a Model 49 Veeder Root computer and I thought the part pictured below was the door to the variator cover but I can figure out how it installs. Is it the door? If so, how does it install. If not, what is it and where does it go?

Hard to explain but you push it up into the VR. There are 2 sets of protrusions (knobs) sticking down from the casting and the ‘winged’ stamped cutouts at the top of your door, sort of straddle those protrusions.

Very hard to explain, maybe someone else can describe it better or post some pics.

That door goes directly below the ID tag. Kinda tricky to work it up in place, just look up into the top and you can see where the tabs go.

Tom.

Hi Tom. So this door actually mounts between the top and bottom plates of the variator directly below the ID tag. I assume it is stationary and you rotate the outer cover to match up the door with the opening?

Stationary door plate, you might have to tweek the top tabs sometimes for it to fit into the top plate correctly.
Thanks
Joe
