The lowly oil can spout, we find them at yard sales and flea markets for a quarter, but there was a lot of imagination used over the years; and some will command a pretty decent price due to rarity and uniqueness.
I recently put on a display at work, and my take away was the younger employees typically didn't find any interest. I'm sure, because they had never used one. Just like road maps.
Ingenuity being the mother of invention, there were a lot of ideas that popped up over the 70 or so year life span of their use.
For all sizes of oil cans.
