Does anyone know what model this pump is? The tag is missing the 3rd digit. Is it a 490, 491, 492....

That is a great pump and the decal makes it special.
What pumping mechanism does it have, manual outside handle, electric pump or compressed air operated?

If I understand correctly, the 490 is electric, the 491 pumps by compressed air and the 492 is hand pumped with a lever handle.

Just my opinion, but I think the decal is worth saving. Great survivor.

I just sent a similar PM:

"A 490 has a different top, a 491 is air operated (no pump handle), and a 492 is operated with a pump handle on the side

I definitely would not restore it. The trend is leaving pumps in their original as-is state. I actually agree and think that pump looks very cool with the original sticker on the side and would never restore that pump. "

Here are some pictures that are on my website: http://petrolianacollectibles.com/wayne%20491.htm The pump is also shown on page 379 of my Gas Pump Identification book. www.gaspumpbible.com

According to my original factory literature you have a 492, which is a 10 gallon hand operated pump. It was introduced in 1923 and sold for $215.00 when new.
