In one of Wes Maxwell's posts called Sinclair Oil 100 Year exhibit - he mentioned a man named Wendell C. White - as a retired Historian for Sinclair. I looked him up today and found out this info:

Wendell C. White started employment with Sinclair Oil Company in 1964 as a City Salesman in Salt Lake City. Then as a Sales Representative in Boise, Idaho in 1965. Then as the manager of Sinclair’s Dealer Training Program in Denver Colorado in 1968. Then became the Human Resources Representative with ARCO and subsequently Human Resources Manager with Pasco, Inc. and finally Human Resources Director with the Holding Family expansion of Sinclair Oil, Sun Valley, Utah ranch and hospitality operations for 24 years. White retired in 2000 completing 36 years of Sinclair service. He continued to serve as Sinclair Historian – Retired.

The listing below is his Collection (on the University of Wyoming - American Heritage Center website) His collection contains digital copies of marketing, promotional, and training films of Sinclair Oil Corporation. There is a total of 75 digital films loaded with Sinclair gas station footage including pumps, signs, cans, uniforms, advertising, etc. The dates range from the 1920's thru the 1970's.

I've had a lot of great road trips with Wendell years ago . Not only did he know a lot of the oil company histories he was very very good at finding this stuff out there in the wild . Bulk plants , Farms , old gas stations etc. He has found most all of the good things from this part of the country and has helped me a lot in the past to further my collection .

I'm happy to share the link - I'm most grateful to Wendell for sharing his collection of films with UW/American Heritage - so we can all see them.

I had a great time yesterday watching them all myself. I had seen some of them on YouTube before, but the majority of them were new to me. I especially loved the "Sinclair Dinosaurs on Tour" film - because I saw that tour when it came to Chicago back in 1967. I also loved all the training films, especially the ones that were shot at actual gas stations so you can see the products/setups/vehicles from the decade each film was shot.

Glad some of you knew Wendell and talk about him here.
