How do you remove the aluminum cover off the porcelain socket? I removed the wire clip and thought it would slide back on to the conduit but it did not move can any one tell me how it works I want to rewire and do not want to brake the socket. Thanks for any help George

My aluminum cover was threaded onto the conduit. You should be able to spin it off. I ended up replacing the porcelain socket on mine it was no good.
