Hello,
Does anyone have a Boyle Dayton Model 74 who will share a few pictures?
I am trying to assemble a Boyle Dayton from parts. I have it mostly assembled but am in need of a reference photo of behind the control area to know how to assemble the controls. I may be missing something.
- The vertical support has a broken spring attached. I do not know where it should have gone to.
- The black lever controls the flow from cylinder but I do not know how to connect it.
- the part in my hand goes to the other hole under the cover but I do not know what it connects to.
Also - Does anyone know where to purchase a replacement cabinet lock like the one pictured? Even knowing what they were called or the manufacturers name would help. Any markings were worn off so I don’t know where to begin. Eagle, Chicago lock etc. it’s from 1926
Any help is appreciated. Thank you, John
Cheers, John

Here are two pictures of my 74. Sorry for the poor focus on the inside. It is a shaft with a fork on one end and a push button on the other. No one that I know of makes a replacement for the lock. Try to save what you have. If you find one and want to sell the lock let me know. Richard

Thank you Richard. The exterior shot helps. I wish I could make out what the interior is showing. I am able to fabricate anything I need with machining etc as needed.
The threads you have showing with the spring should be covered up by a plunger knob. There is a set screw in the hex that screws into the main panel casting that enables locking it in pulled out position. See the pics for ref. You can also see the additional part in the background for the second hole on the cast panel.
The interior lever on mine actuates the shut off for fuel. Withe the side pane door closed the plunger must be pushed in, if it connects directly to the interior lever it would be in open position. That seems opposite of how I imagine it should be used unless I am misunderstanding ding how to use the pump.
Thanks again and any clarity would be helpful.
Cheers, John

Had time to go back down to the pump room. Here is a picture of the shaft. It is 6 1/16 inches long. It attaches to the lever inside the pump. Richard

That’s a huge help Richard. Thank you so much!
Based on what you shared I was able to make what was needed. I did find at the bottom of the bin some bits that I identified based on your photos. The fork and what was left of the push button shaft, so thank you very much.
Do you know what this other hole in the panel is for? Here is a pic of the inside and outside.
Thanks, John
Cheers, John

I have a hole there but no parts for it, so I can't help you there. Richard

Richard,
If you have another moment can you photograph the top of the tubes? I am missing the float with shutoff and not sure I installed the cast part on the correct tube. Do you know what it is called? I’m not sure what to look for.
Thank you, John

You installed the cast cap on the correct tube. Here are a couple of pictures. Richard

Thank you Richard, apologies for the delay. My previous message I must not have sent correctly.
You were a great help. I had the hinge in the wrong place. I thought it was for the side casting hit it was meant for the top float ball. The float ball and arm are all that is missing g now.
Once I find dimensions off the arm and ball diameter I can fabricate what is needed. Thanks again!

Here is a little better picture. It looks like it has 3/8" square stock. 1" at the bend with 2 1/4" on the other side. The ball looks like 3". Those are just a guess. Richard
