I recently restored two Revere gas island lights, and both had tags that were completely rusted apart. It is impossible to find replacements, as no one removes good plates from the poles. With no other options, I went about having reproductions made.
The plates were originally embossed, and the cheapest quote I could get for a custom embossing die was nearly $2000. The next best alternative was to have the plates made by deep etching, which almost perfectly replicates embossing. It was still very expensive, but doable for a small batch. I had 15 made, and am selling the other 13 at my break even cost. These are the only embossed style reproduction Revere plates ever made, and there won’t be any more. They are perfect for restoring original poles whose tags did not survive the last 80 years.
