Just looking through my Check the oil magazine April 2000 and saw these prices at Vic's Place Auction. Ryan Jet Gas 1 lens gill body $120, Jenney Super Aero ripple globe $375, Shamrock shoebox $150. Bennett Model 150 clockface restored $1,400, Neptune clockface with original Lesh globe $1,300, Tokheim 36B clockface $550. Phillips 66 die-cut made for neon mint $650, 6' Gulf pole sign mint $550, 30" Conoco Gasoline Ethyl $550. We though those prices were high back then and wonder how the hobby could survive. Richard

Looking through 20 year old magazines is similar to going back through your mind's memory of items you passed up decades ago because they were "overpriced".....Like a nice cookie cutter Pegasus for $1500, or the one I'll never get out of my mind, the minty Transcontinental Marathon DSP pole sign for $3000. Oh well, I guess we all have the items we passed over that will nag at us for years. Like DB always said, "you didn't pay too much, you just bought it too early!", which sure rings true these days! I enjoy looking though old publications and seeing the prices. I remember passing on a nice original wayne 60 showcase years ago because it was 2k. 2 grand, for an unrestored pump?? that is crazy! LOL

Also… some of the reference guide books have prices. Looking at those you can really see how prices have gone up!
