This months POTM will be the Tokheim 39 Short.
The Tokheim Manufacturing Company was founded in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1901 to produce a Kerosene and bulk oil pumping system designed by John Tokheim. In 1947-1956 Tokheim produced the short 39, which was called a Lo-Boy. There are several different models of this 39L.
The 39L HR was produced between 1947 and 1952. It had a large window and brackets inside to keep the glass in place. The hose is on a reel.
The 39L-EZ was produced in 1947. It also has the large window, but the hose outlet is on the top of the side.
The 39L-RA was produced in 1947. It also has the large window, but the hose outlet is in the middle of the side and has a hose cable.
In 1947 to 1951 the 39L-EZ was produced with a smaller window held in by rubber. The hose outlet remained on the top of the side.
The 39L-EP is the same pump as the 39L-EZ but with add glass panels in the door.
The 39L-RP was produced between 1947 and 1951. It had the smaller windows, but the hose outlet is in the middle of the side and has a hose cable. It also has add glass panels in the door.
The 39A was produced between 1952 and 1956. It also had the smaller windows and the hose outlet is in the middle of the side, but the doors lift off.
The 39 AP is the same pump as the 39 A but with add glass panels in the door.
The 39 B was produced between 1952 and 1956. It had the smaller windows, the hose outlet is in the top of the side, and lift off doors.
The 39 BP is the same pump as the 39 B but with add glass panels in the doors.
Some of the 39 Lo-Boy's did come equipped with stationlighters.
Instead of showing a breakdown of a particular model, I'm going to show some differences I have found on this pump.
This base is steel and is 19" X 24". Some of the tall 39's use this base. Someone cut a piece out of this base on the upper right corner.
This base shows the locking plate for the doors that lift off.
This picture shows the frame. The legs are 53" long.
