The Ford sign that does not say Veribrite looks a little off to me. Plus he is selling an oval gargoyle sign. Any thoughts?

Wow Darryl! Interesting who bought that one. I was emailed by a 25yr Ford collector who said it was a repo and to stay away. The guy has the same M.O. as some other Indiana sellers.

Wow.

I saw that sign first time around. I wondered about it then. Now one exactly like it. Makes you wonder.

The person who bought the other one should know.

They have been reproducing the Ford Parts sign WITH Porperty of Ford Motor Co. on it..but what makes the difference SO FAR is the correct one has Veribrite Signs Chicago on it as well. They are also reproducing the Chevrolet ( bowtie) one as well....

FIRST of all it's the same sign and same pictures in BOTH auctions?(note the chips)
Which means the buyer(oldgas member) is either in on it! OR passed after winning???
Looks like someone is BUSTED again NOT to mention any names?
SHAME SHAME!

Look guys, I got kicked off here for 30 days before for speaking the truth. The problem was I got to personal. I am not going to do that again. However, all we can do is watch his upcoming auctions which are due to start soon. The Ford sign is 100% repop. That part is fact. Nothing on the sign looks like an original. Great work Daryl on noticing the previous auction.

thanks guys.......i am getting e-mail's from some very concerned collectors who want to remain anonymous about this issue & they suggest that some of us collectors contact the person below to see if he knows anything about these Ford signs.....He may like to have a word with Mr. Henry........................Hes the head of licensing and enforcement for Ford Motor Co.

There is currently a HUMBLE sign on ebay also, and it looks to be a fake...I've never seen one in red with white letters and the back shows the typical crude shelving marks..does anyone know anything about this sign?

I think this sign should be destroyed, probably won't happen. For what it's worth Roger I'm with you. Unmarked reproductions are the scourge of this hobby we all love and it's only getting worse. the known reproduction catagory helps but what about the known people selling this **** ? I don't care who they are, well respected people in the hobby or someone trying to make a buck, they need to be exposed. It's getting pretty bad when seasoned veterans can't tell the difference anymore. It's only gonna get worse. GREED;;;;;;;;;Ron

I emailed the seller the first time it was on ebay and told him it was a reproduction. I never got a response. This seller is pretty close to me but I don't know him. I don't know a lot about Ford signs, but I do know they should be marked Veribrite. Also, the letters just don't look right. Compare them to a real sign and you can see what I mean.

The Humble sign that tx_oil was questioning was for a bulk tank I think. There are also Humble Dealer signs in red.

Up to 500. No way to contact bidders, as the seller has kept bidders ID's secret. How convienient.

I always thought that was a bad move by ebay.

Someone is going to get hosed and they have no clue.

Look at that other garbage listed.

Listen guys, if you are really wanting to do something, here is the right contact person to get a fire started: Lisa Walke. Her E-Mail address is lwalke72@ford.com. Her phone number is 313-845-0431. I think the more of us that respond, the more active Ford will be. Just an FYI for those who want to contact the seller, his cell phone number is 983-714-1401. I am sure he would be happy to hear from you. Ask him for the discont if you buy 50 of the Ford signs, he will be real happy.......

No...if you really want do to something about it, go to Roundtop down by San Antonio in April and these signs will be all over the place. The responible parties will be set-up down there. It is an overseas import cess-pool. I'm fairly certain that besides the Ford & Gargoyle ovals, this party is also responsible for the Socony Aircrafts, die-cut 3' Pegasus done in porcelain, multiple goodyear signs, coke tires checked sign and many others. The funny thing is, the shelving on them is always reversed i.e. white lettering is always raised instead of being recessed like on other porcelain signs. The colors are off, they are really satiny to the touch, among other characteristics. They are brought over in containers along with your run-of-the-mill import **** such as goat-carts, gazing balls, rusted "shabby-chic" metal art, all the different wooden candle-holders, most of the stuff you see at low-grade Pier One type stores.

Every year that I go down there, I walk the fields and I can immediately recognize what the "new" repro scam is because there will be a minimum of 5 booths with one just thrown out with other signs that are legit OR they will be mixed in with unrelated antiques. What's the chances that 5 booths in a 40 acre field will all have a ford oval, a socony ac, a gargoyle rochester oval, a die-cut 3' pegasus horse and a goodyear bicycle tires sign??

I'm not an expert on any signs, as has been pointed out here on more than one occasion. lol But comparing the two signs in question there seems, to me, to be more than a couple differences between them. The white borders are different, the holes are in different places and the writing on each sign at least to my poor eyesight seem to be different. Also, atleast in the photos they seem to be of different color blues. But ofcourse I haven't seen them side by side in person. Just my .02 worth. I am talking about the two Amistadi signs, the one he bought at the end of Dec and the one he has on ebay now.

Wow I just got this ford sign in todays mail from my ebay purchase. I bid at the last second before really looking closley at photos or his feedback. This sign is without a doubt a repop. I have tried to contact him and he will not respond. You collectors beware! Once again I got burnt on a repop. Oh well another lesson learned.

A friend called me tonight and said you can find him right now at the Mt. Dora, FL Show. The Ford sign is only one of his new found art work..........
