Greetings! New to this site so go easy on me! I found this site while researching a small (15.5" x 10.5") metal one sided sign that I picked up at an estate sale today and I was hoping to get an education on it. It says "2-34" in the lower left hand corner - I am assuming that indicates a February 1934 date? It appears to be in very good condition. I noticed in my research that signs such as this one are "graded" somehow on a 10 point scale? Is that necessary to do when selling these signs? There is a blank space above "Agent" - is where the business owner would have put their name? In looking on eBay and other sites I don't see this sign coming up very often? Is this an appropriate place to inquire about value? If not, please direct me - don't want to rock the boat. So many questions! I tried to attach photos of the front and back - hopefully it worked. Thanks for your patience and assistance. God bless! Mark

You are correct on the date. This is a tanker truck door sign.

the blank space isn't where a business owner would have added a name, sign would have dealers name in the porcelain when made,

value - in the 1000. neighborhood .. ... cool

And, Randy, it's likely there was a 20% (approximately) buyer's premium added to that price. So, the buyer in the auction you've shown would have paid $1,200 or so for the sign. Plus, that auction was over a year ago. Have we had any movement in sign prices since then? Likely upward. As most everyone in the "hobby" knows, it's really hard to price signs these days (or should I say from day-to-day). If possible, one has to hope to find one in a very recent, well-advertised auction, and go from there. John

John, buyers premium is already added into final price as you will see below,

sign in action over a year ago was in pristine condition, sign of subject isn't .. ... cool

And the seller usually pays 10-20% to the auction house as well. So he only got $800-900
