I am trying to make a deal with a guy on some TEXACO and Red Crown signs and a globe. He won't set a price and I want to treat him fair. Could anyone give me some ball park values to get us started? There are 2 42" Texaco Gasoline Motor Oil single sided signs bolted together. There is an 18 X 24 clear, clean, golden double sided flange sign with a rounded top and back/green T. There is a 24 X 18 double sided Texaco Motor oil flange green/black T sign with some damage to flange. There is a Red Crown of Nebraska sign that is 24 X 18 that appears to have been double sided with a flange but the porcelain is mostly gone from one side and the flange is flattened. The globe is one piece wide and etched with base damage and a crack on one side from 10 O'clock to 4. I hope my pics will be good enough to show condition as I know it's very important.I have sent the pics to Ryan for him to post but can email them to anyone interested in helping out. Thanks for your help. Rod

I'd say each of the two 42" signs, in the condition pictured are worth between $500-800.
The flange with the rounded top, I'd say $1200+.
The other flange is more common, thus my guestimate would be $450-$700.
The Red Crown, $125-$200.
The globe?? I'd defer to some of the globe guys on the site...
PS-- I'd definitely try to get that rounded top flange...

Globe is junk. I think Texaco would have used a black T on a 1 piece globe. With it being broke and big pieces broke off base. If it's original i would say $50.
I am not a big 1 peiece globe guy.
Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

I know the globe looks like it's not worth much but that is a rare globe. If you notice it is the same body as the chimney cab globe. You hardly ever see this body. It is still worth something to a Texaco collector. Dan

As pointed out by others, that globe is not junk. I would proudly display that in my collection. Very unique base. I missed this post. I would be interested in the tombstone flange and/or the globe if they are available.

Dick, I didn't get a pic of the top of the globe. Nothing out of the ordinary there and no damage. A pic of the other side of globe, and the other 42" sign can be found on Cheese's site. http://www.cheesepitstop.com/viewtopic.php?t=2499 Rod ------------------

Thanks for the KIND words, Bob and others who have emailed me with their expertise, encouragement, advice and offers of help as I may have to pass some of these signs on to others. Just what this site and others should be about. I haven't had much experience buying signs or globes. I talked to the seller this weekend. He has promised an antique dealer he met at an antique show not to sell until he has had a chance to see the signs and globe with in the next week to ten days. I can only hope he will want to make a big profit by reselling and offer the seller less than I have. Hope to have some good news later. Rod

I finally made a deal with the owner of these signs and globe and got them home today after almost a 3 month wait and 500 mile round trip. Patience paid off, I guess. One good thing is that it gave me more time to come up with the money. LOL Rod
