Working on a Tokheim 39 short and wondering if top’s mounting bracket is supposed to come loose once the stainless trim hardware is removed.
Removed both trim pieces and can’t tell if the inner frame is factory spot welded to the outer?

Smokey1... I took a glance at the extra top I have... The inner mounting bracket does not come loose and appears to be spot weldedto the cap. If you haven't already tried, the seven or so nuts that fasten to the posts on the trim piece are a real problem to get off without breaking a post. I think I was able to get two or three off, the rest were so seized up with rust they sheared off. You'll find that the posts are free to float in the trim piece. I made new posts with some all thread. --Jeff

Thank you very much for the confirmation.
Got a couple of the nuts removed and others simply snapped off the stud so I ordered some replacement clips for re-attaching the stainless trim.
