Hi all. I listed 4 more banners, and I think the last of them, on eBay. There was a phenomenal Texaco banner that just sold on ebay from the 1920s....Part of my message got deleted. I am asking $400 on eBay. Will sell each one to an old gass member for $330 shipped. PM me through oldgas. Thanks.

And happy Labor Day weekend. Regardless of what side of labor/management you stand on, Labor Day started in the late 19th century and was first celebrated on 9/5/1882 as a response by the Central Labor Union and Knights of Labor for poor working conditions. Mostly state level in NY only. After the famous/infamous violent Pullman Railroad strike of the 1890's...and a railroad strike could really shut down the country...After the strike was settled, President Grover Cleveland, in 1894, made it a federal holiday as a gesture to the labor movement. Where I live has a rich history that includes lots of (labor/management) strife. If you get bored, look up the history of Butte, Montana. Again, regardless of where one stands on the labor/management issues, it is truly a dynamic study in everything about life/death/greed/survival. Being a moderate Republican marrying into a mostly Democratic, labor family has been fun and educational. My father-in-law worked at the smelter, and I talked to my mother-in-law about living through the strikes. She said she always secretly put away some money from each of his checks every payday. I asked her what she thought of the strikes and such...she said she didn't focus on the reasons/issues...she said her job was to feed and clothe a family of 11 kids ...and keep the house of three bedrooms, one bathroom, running. My wife said she knew of the strikes but never remembered them going without......one strike my wife remembered she and her younger sister wanted to go to the movie, and when everyone was gone, their mom reached into her apron pocket and pulled out a couple of quarters and off they went. This is a very simplistic thought/solution, and may not be a popular opinion, but, in my studies of HR, labor and such, I have often thought, if the Companies had 'taken care of business' in the late 1800s and early 1900s, the US might look a whole lot different. Something to argue about...LOL Anyway, Happy Labor Day to all of us.
