I rescued this nifty GM Oil Change Promotional Sign from the storage room of the service department in my local CHEVROLET/BUICK dealership in the early 1980’s. This action sign simulates pouring oil from the genuine GM oil bottle with a series of sequentially lighting amber-lensed bulbs. Everything works fine on this unusual GM piece.

This sign is nice-sized, measuring 27” high by 22” wide. It’s made of colorful extruded and embossed plastic, which I’ve placed in a custom-made, black metal frame for protection and easy hanging. It includes the original small transformer that plugs into a wall outlet for powering the sequentially-lighting amber lights (simulating the pouring oil!).

The color and condition of the graphics portion of this sign is in excellent condition. The black, ribbed-plastic outline of the sign does have a few blems and small cracks in it. These are hard to see from three or four feet away. I’d rate the graphics and lights as a near “10” for condition, but would say “8.5” overall for the sign because of the less-than-perfect black plastic outline.

As I think about it, it’s amazing this approximately 45-year-old GM dealership sign has even survived. It was part of a short-term service department promotion, and was designed to be discarded when replaced by a different service department promotion after a few months. I would imagine very few of these signs still exist.

The price of this working, framed GM oil change action sign, with the original wall transformer, is $395, plus the shipping. I will personally package this sign in a double box to help with safe shipping. Thanks for looking. John
