Hello,

Beginning to refurbish a Buckeye Valve for my Fry pump and wanted to know if anyone has a source for the handle return spring; the original is broken (in photo, screw-driver pointing to it)...?
Or if someone has a decent/nice original they would be willing to sell for this project...

Thank you for your time! Jim

Thanks for the reply!
Excellent suggestion and Thanks for the link! I'll have to get a few dimensions of the original, at least what's left, and go from there...

Thanks again!

Hey Jim,
Once you get your specifications set you might be able to match it up with something from McMaster Carr It may require a little customization for the ends.

Thank you for the micrometer photos! Basically, the same as my measurements!
Mcmaster-Carr has a very close spring that should fit the bill! I reply back once I return home and get this project finished...

Do you have the part number from them? I would probably get one as well

Here's the one I'm going to utilize: 9271K903

https://www.mcmaster.com/products/9271k903/

My order should be here by Wed.; so let me see how this style fits and get back to you should I feel a slightly different spring should be used...

Hopefully helpful...

Thanks for the info! Those legs look long enough to allow you to bend a “hook” into one of them to go over the handle like the original one does

Sorry for the delay! I had issues with different springs...

I wrapped this project up utilizing a spring from McMaster-Carr. https://www.mcmaster.com/products/9271k121/
However, I did have to modify it because it is a little too big. I was able to unwind a turn or two as seen in the left spring. The right spring is the unmodified version in stainless which I did not use for the final spring pictured.

Any questions, I'll try to answer. Jim

Nice job Jim. It completes the valve perfectly.
