Yes the one key bit of info I read was that it measures 6", it's definitely repro. If it's 7, it could be authentic OR repro. Do I have that right?
We have one person in this thread who states that originals can be glass only without thread or metal ou ces... I feel like I've read that claim before. But more importantly, does the fact that the letters are red price that it's at the very least a repaint? I've dug deep and can't find any images of red letters anywhere.

No originals had red letters on a red background.
The color red on your Crown is incorrect also.
Original/Reproduction, either way, it has been incorrectly repainted.

Here is my repro globe. Can’t remember if I purchased from Webers or Vic’s 20-25 yrs ago.

Scott Benjamin did a write up explaining the different versions of the crowns, it’s out there somewhere.

My initial reaction was it's an original, poorly and incorrectly repainted. It has the arrows around the bottom line, indicative of early crowns. The later ones have slashes, not arrows. This version was never threaded or had a metal collar. Maybe Scott Benjamin will see this and respond. Or you could contact Scott through his gasglobes.com website. Darin

Scott Benjamin did a write up explaining the different versions of the crowns, it’s out there somewhere. Scott's write up.. ... Your globe is original any 7" base crown is original. 99% of any threaded base crowns are original. Any 6" base crown is phony. Now it was painted at one time so technically it's not a "White Crown" but could have been another color. Still original though. Did you say blue specks? If so it was blue at one time. Since all the paint is gone not a lot of value. $650-$700 retail tops. I collect crowns and washed out crowns are very common, as are Gold, Red and pure White ones. Original paint Blue, Green, Gray and the early raised letter ones have much more value. Blue Crowns were used in the 1930s/40s. Pure White 1930-1955, Gold after 1956. Red from 1930 or so into the late 1950s...The raised letter crowns are all from the 1920s and the early etched ones 1910s...Been collecting for nearly 50 years I buy and sell original globes too...

Thanks for finding that write up. Don't 7" repros exist though?
