I have a Gilbert and Baker model 177 in very complete and super nice condition. I am trying to make it a bit better. The gallon markers in the cylinder are the round riveted on variety with a spring clamp to hold them on the rod. The 1, 2, 3 etc gallon markings are there but the paint is long gone. Is there a company that sells stick on labels to cover them with or is there some other way to bring them back?
Any and all help greatly appreciated.
Best regards

I did a set recently not exactly that model pump but close. It was a pain, took forever. I sandblasted them, put heavy primer on the numbered plates (because they have light embossing on the letters which I tried to fill), scuffed them, painted them silver and black for the background, had decals made that were white printing on clear vinyl (ended up being little decal squares), stuck those on, then clear-coated the whole thing. Turned out nice but its a job.

Thanks for the reply. Looks super!! Can you share the name of the company that printed the labels for you? Was it a stock item for them or did you have them done custom?
Thanks again

Hey Ron, I went to my local "Fast Sign" but I gave them the artwork. I dont think anybody has these pre-made.

Those guys at Fast Sign work off of vector-based graphics (lines/curves rather than pixels). If you are handy with Adobe Illustrator at all, just pick a font that's close, type out what you want, then click it and select "Convert to Outlines", then you can size it to whatever you want. It's pretty easy. you can get Illustrator for $20 a month I think. Get it for one month and cancel.

Fast Sign will do that artwork for you but it costs lot more.

No one really makes stick-on replacements for those.
Best route is to hand paint the numbers back in or lightly stencil them. G&B used a lot of different styles anyway, so there’s no single 'correct' look

The embossing on these is super light, hand painting them is no easy task! But if you've got some artistic talent or know someone that does, that would be great.

I make correct replacement decals for ANY visibles.

No cost for the art.

Send me photos of each number and I'll send you art to approve in a couple of days.

Later . . .

I found a company that had a similar item and they made the effort to fulfill my specific needs. Don't have it in hand as yet but I am hopeful it will be what I wanted.
Thanks for your offer. If the other product doesn't do it, I may reach back out to you
Best regards
Ron
