Hello does anyone know anything about smokey the bear signs? I bought 13 of them from my neighbor he worked at a forestry station when they moved to a new building he found them in the basement. A whole box of them I think there was 25 in the box I bought some and another guy bought some. I put one on ebay and sold it the guy received it and now he says it's a fake made of plastic. I dug into one with a knife definitely fiberglass not plastic. Could someone help with finding out if original or not. I know my neighbor is telling the truth he worked at the forestry station. Thanks Bob

They are original and fiberglass. They regularly sell for 250-450 on average

This isn't related to the sign per se but here is a discussion about "Smokey the Bear". It's funny what you remember. Here is the infamous curmudgeon and well respected O&G savant lecturing us on Smokey Bear..

I don't think plastic equals fake, fiberglass is plastic, just re-inforced plastic.

The font is the bigger issue for me, yours seems to use Arial font, which was invented in 1982.

Totally possible these are legit signs, just a little newer. People that make fake signs do love Arial for some reason though, never understood why they always use Arial.
