Hi everyone, my buddy was on his way to the dump with a truckload of "garbage" and since I am about 2 blocks from the dump he stopped to say HI. I am glad he did because you cant salvage at the dump but I can surely do it in my driveway..LOL. I got 3 good extension cords (he said they were too long) work great. A natural gas furnace (works great) and this beauty:

I said what are ya doing throwing that sign away when ya know i love this junk. He said it didnt light up and the clock was broke. I said "That may be but the can (frame) is worth something to me". I figured I would do something fantasy with it like get some acrylic and paint "service" on it or something. Low and behold all I had to do is put a new bulb in it and tighten the clock hands ....works just fine. It just goes to show you one mans junk is surely anothers treasure. It isnt real exciting like a porcelain sunset sign or an original globe but what can I say it was FREE. I am sure it could be seen at a garage or station somewhere. I should put a sign at the end of my road saying.."pre transfer station" "Before ya dump...see the Hub" with an arrow pointing to my House...LOL

Hey Hubba... Nice Find.
Your right... you need to set up a security check point at the entrance to the dump. You never know ... some terrorists may be planning to infect our landfills.

Speaking of "Big garbage day" i found this hanging light about 10 years ago on "Big garbage day". It was a hanging light advertising tile flooring but a managed to remove the old paint and then I just added decals and a bulb. It hangs over my Wayne 60 and looks pretty good even though its fantasy. Thats what I am talking about...even if it doesnt float your boat as is..maybe with some imagination and time ...you can make a neat fantasy piece to enjoy.

i worked at an Amoco station during high school. we would clean up the back room, upstairs etc...etc...
THE OWNER YELLED OUT TO US OVER & OVER: WHEN IN DOUBT THROW IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!
AND WE DID!!!!!!!!!!!
man we would toss everything out!!!!!!
it wasnt a really old station but lots of the signs, promotional stuff, etc... were cooooool & we wouldnt just toss em out, we'd punch big holes in plastic signs, it was lots of fun but i want some of that junk we threw out NOW!!!!!!!!!

not gas stuff but a cool find all the same.. drove home after a family picnic and was beat to hell. got home and walked over to the dumpster to empty the ashtray... threw open the top and low and behold it was loaded with record albums... there was easily 100 of em' in there... so i jump in and start handin' them to my kid who is stackin' them up on the floor. most were albums from the 50's and 60's. come to find out that one of the tenants had so many that the weight was bowin' the floor and management told him they gotta go. now... get this... they came from a radio station and most... if not all were never played !!!... just one buddy holly cover had a ketchup smear on it... HA..... didn't bother me at all....

kmann - U R sure it wasn't Buddy Holly's Blood? (sorry) LOL!!!
I was out doing my walk this morning and a house had two blue boys beds at the curb that were like racecars with the mattresses! They were mint! You know how much that stuff cost when new? I'm surprised they didn't recycle it to a thrift shoppe or something!! Gotta be worth something to somebody.....right?
