HELLO NEW TO THIS SITE BUT HAVE READ FORUMS FOR MONTHS NOW DECIDED TO JOIN.A GROUP OF US OLD GUYS ARE RECONSTRUCTING AND OLD FILLING STATION IN OUR TOWNSHIP. IT IS AN EXACT DUPLICATE OF A STATION THAT WAS HERE FROM THE LATE TWENTIES INTO THE FIFTIES WHEN IT FINALLY CLOSED. IT HAS BEEN SEVERAL COMPANIES BUT THE ORIGINAL WAS SINCLAIR SO WE DECIDED TO GO THAT ROUTE. WE PICKED UP A COUPLE REAL NICE WAYNE 70'S TO RESTORE AND THEY ARE ALMOST DONE. BUILDING IS ALMOST DONE.TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO SEND PICTURES BUT SO FAR HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DO SO. HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I THINK EVERYBODY WOULD ENJOY OUR LITTLE PROJECT AS IT WILL BE OPEN FOR ANYBODY TO ENJOY. THANKS JEFF

JEFF - SOUNDS LIKE THE SAME THING THE TOWN OF YAPHANK IS DOING ON LONG ISLAND BASED ON AN OLD SHELL STATION IN THE SAME BUILDING WHICH IS CURRENTLY OWNED BY THE SUFFOLK CO. POLICE DEPT. I GO BY IT ONCE IN A WHILE AND THE WORK SEEMS AT A STAND STILL. I KNOW THE GUY WHO IS RESTORING THE PUMPS AND THE GUY WHO IS SUPPLYING PHOTOS OF WHAT IT USED TO LOOK LIKE IN IT'S HEYDAY.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PROJECT. PLEASE POST PICS OF YOUR PROGRESS OR EMAIL THEM TO ME AND I'LL GET THEM ON FOR YOU. DON'T BE SHY - GET THE GUYS BEHIND THE EFFORT TO SMILE AND WAVE AS WELL!

doc @ the american garages what's your email address and i'll send pics to you.that would be great as i'm sure every body would like to see it. we picked up a sinclair hc sign in real nice shape while on vacation in virginia and my wife wasnt real pleased as all luggage went on roof and sign went in back of her jeep. oh well such is life. i also picked up a wayne 60 originally a rotary station pump that i will soon be doing over when station is done. it's amazing how so many people think these old items are of interest ,as we have been building this project you wouldn't believe the donations we've had of old station items from people to diplay. some things, never have heard of! well look forward to sending pics. jeff

We picked up an Erie tall pump also from him which one of the other guys is going to restore for himself. I'll keep everybody on oldgas updated to our project. This weekend we plan on putting up H-C sign and pole.I'll send pics as soon as its done. Thanks, Jeff.

hey thunder, opening will probably be in spring as we now have 8 inches of the nasty stuff(s**w) on the ground. but we will persist throughout the winter to finish project up. food will be addressed at that time. we have several car clubs that we are members of and will invite as we have approx 6 acres mowed around station for them to park in.clubs are , the dicers, southern tier antique autos, susquehanna hot rods, and then just people who have old cars and rods. should be good time. we hope to host several car shows over the summer. your welcome to come if you get out this way! jeff

...looks cool! But I wouldn't put that rare Sinclair sign out in the New England weather, I'd keep it in the station...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Jeff. Very nice job. I found a similar old station here and my friend had it transported to his warehouse location. Originally, it was Cities Service and he had it painted green and white. An art gallery did have it painted purple/pink. Looks a lot better now.

POST ON BUIDING ARE REALLY TWO 5 INCH PIECES OF PIPE PUT INTO CHIMNEY BLOCKS THREE FOOT IN GROUND THEN FILLED WITH PEA GRAVEL. THE WOODEN BOXES WERE MADE TO GO OVER THEM WITH ONE SIDE SCREWED TOGETHER SO THAT THE CAN BE TAKEN APART IF NEEDED.WIRING WAS RUN UP INSIDE THESE BOXES FOR THE PUMPS AND SOCKETS WE PUT INTO CEILING THEY ARE THEN BOLTED WITH A 5/16 BOLT ON TWO SIDES SO THEY WONT SPIN ON STEEL POST. THE OUTSIDE BOXES SET ON FLAT STONE BUT REALLY DO NOT CARRY WEIGHT OF AWNING

The reason i Googled this was my visit from last weekend. I have a Sinclair Pump outside of my garage that I restored 12 Years ago. I will attempt to submit a picture that is not so good as my camera was damaged and out getting repaired.
Another Pic I will attempt is a night shot that we took after a long day of Shooting Nothing but the Beer cans we consumed.
No harm we are just smartasses and do love the job you guys did!
