Here's the globes I got this week. I'll try to post the rest of my buys later. The Frontier globe was a deal I made a while ago but I just made the final payment and picked it up on the way back from IG. Yea...I have to make payments to buy this stuff. And thanks to the seller for working with me!

I got a few things at Iowa Gas. A couple nice signs that are upgrades to ones I already had. The 14" HC was used on truck doors and the Opaline sign was used on lubesters. This is the big version of this sign. The blank panel along the top was for dealers to paint their names or company names. Two versions of this sign, one with a phone number, one without.

Couple more things. A pair of lubesters I don't really need but the price was right. This is a framed cut out from an old grease keg, low dollar but it looks good on the wall. A Dino globe, single lens. It has an extra "Circle R" below the "O" most do not have. Minor difference but it was only $50.

I had a good week, although an expensive one! I picked up several nice signs. This is the new showpiece of my collection. I found this Chevrolet sign at a local trades day. They don't get much better than this, I have never seen a nicer one. This 42" GalTex sign from Iowa Gas. A big thanks to Paddy (texas pelican) for getting this one for me. I've been looking for one of these for awhile. And finally a Standard Blue Streak Ignition flange sign from ebay.

Wes, I just looked at my Dino regular and supreme globes. The supreme has the extra little "circle R". Was this more rare too, or only on the regular? Tara

Hello Tara I am not an expert on this but from what I have seen, the Dino with the second "Circle R" is uncommon, not sure if I would call it rare or not. As for the Dino Supmeme, I just looked at two and they both had the "Double circle R's", maybe a single R would be uncommon? I already posted a picture above of the Double R Dino, here is a picture of the Single R Dino... And a picture of a Double R Dino Supreme Also, a couple more of my Iowa Gas buys: A nice 5 quart Opaline And a pair of signs, the ARCO was used in a gas pump. (ARCO bought out or took over a lot of Sinclair stations back when.) And a license of some kind, maybe a station buisness license?

Rarin To Go, you got a sweet deal on the Chevron globe. I seen it in the room to room, was going to come back for it and totally spaced. It looks a lot beter with the gunk cleaned off!

Went to a auction last weekend & this is what I picked up. A old tin Ford key rack. I thought it was cool & I have never seen one before so I had to have it. Then I picked up a few signs. The Ford is not in the best of shape but for $50 I could not pass it up. The Red Crown I got off someone at the auction. More to come

Now that Derek has got a taste of collecting he might want to see what it's like being a dealer. I really need that Frontier can. Nice pick! chris

Hey Gang. Here's a couple of things we picked up at Iowa Gas. First is a nice 'Ice Cream' globe Jodi got. Aaron and Lonnie caught me in the parking lot and showed me this. They thought I might want to get it for Jodi for a birthday/anniversary present - but since I didn't have enough cash on hand, I had to let Jodi know about it in order to buy it. But I took the globe inside with me - being careful to hold the 'empty' side towards her (only one lens on this body). She started to give me some grief about buying another glass body (especially since we had a half-dozen under the tables!). I let her get a bit worked up - then I slowly rotated the body so she could see the lens. That changed her tone immediately. LOL So anyway, she had to go out in the parking lot to pay Lonnie then. (She was going to get the box for the globe while she was out there too.) When she returned, she handed me a box - and this globe was in it. She had bought me this globe for my collection of 'Ethyl' lenses. Aaron showed up a couple of seconds later with the empty box for her globe. This is a complete globe. Two nice lenses in a aluminum screw-base narrow body. The lenses have a bit of discoloration at the mounting nothches and at 12:00 - but they're kinda hard to find, so I don't mind. Later . . . Jim
