Hey, Just got back from Peotone! We had a great time there, and saw some good friends and some new faces as well. I found a few good items this time, but fell short of my goal of a globe or cool sign... I got two nice DX maps, a very nice Faultless can and a DX Extrinol 6qt for my Sunray/Mid-Continent collection, and a sweet Johnson 5qt too! Tara really scored big this time, too, with a big pile of Sinclair goodies: Have a good one! Wes

This one is a FSOTW: "Free Sign of the Week", guess I'll hang it on the outside of the barn. It needs a little more distressing. [This message has been edited by CircaDesigns (edited 03-04-2007).]

The first item I'm posting was a gift from a friend and fellow oldgaser. What makes it unique is the original shipping envelope with a Dec. 23, 1966 postmark. I got this mobile from ebay. It dates from the mid 1950's. These printers blocks also came from ebay. The Rubber Lube and paint came from the swap meet.

I picked up my first air meter, Sat. afternoon, it really pays to be friends with a man who removes underground tanks from old stations for a living. The name plate says it is a model 98 ECO. Now I have to get Jacks book on air meters. Will this madness ever stop?

This is my only pump. I always told myself I'd keep a Mae West if I ever found one in nice original condition. Well,I found it... Original cylinder, no cracks, no missing doors, even had the original Texaco star globe in a metal body on it. As the older gentleman (who was in his 80s) told me: "You won't find one like that at the swap meets..." I bought it from a collector who lived no more than 5 miles from where I grew up in southeastern Oklahoma. [This message has been edited by DCpate (edited 03-05-2007).]

I bought this 5 qt on eBay. Don't know much about cans and don't have any 5 qt cans in my collection.....all I have is 1 qt cans, but thought this was cool. Cleaned up nice. I read on this site how to clean up cans...used WD-40 , a soft rag, and followed up with some wax (Maguires scratch remover wax)....cleaned up pretty good. Doesn't have a lid, but going to have Dick Bennett relid for me. Here's a before pic Here's an after pic Mac

Had a good time at the Peotone show. Bought two more oil collectible books and a soda book, got a lighter fluid can from my brother. There were some nice items there. I ended up with this two piece Sinclair strip sign. Nice colors and gloss. I think it is an older version of this sign because the white letters do not have the black background shading. Think it is a 12 or 14 footer. Thanks Tom B.

A vendor pulled into the Peotone parking lot just as I went out to my van. I saw this pump with its top and clock face and was just drawn over to it. I looked both ways to see if Dick Bennett was anywhere around. Could it be that a Tokheim 36b is still around with the top still intact? The 36b has been one of my favorites. I just got it out of the van tonight. Best part is that Maureen can even see the potential. I also got a Cardinal can from "canosaurus" Dave. Cardinal was a secondary brand at JD Streett, the Zephyr Gas parent company. A Shop Talk member tipped me off about this Chi-Namel auto/carriage polish bottle. ------------------ Jim "Oldgas" PottsYour host and moderator

Had a great time at the auction, the show and found some nice goodies along the way home. I really had a banner few days for can finds. I picked up somewhere between 40-50 new cans. Emailed Jim to post some of them for me. Some of the cans I had for sale I see in the photos. Thank you to those who purchased from me!!! Also, thanks to all who sold me some really great stuff. I always enjoy the shows and seeing long time friends.

Great pump Jim, could not have happened to a better fellow. However, I would change my address and put pump in storage somewhere because there is a top scalper on the loose on the west coast.
Phil
Thanks, Phil _________________________________________________ Looking for any old pumps, or nice 5 gallon cans.

I have to agree with Phil nice score on a pump for a great guy. If you ever get sick of it Jim let me know I will be at your house in 3 hours or less lol. Well here are my buys from Peotone & 1 from Ebay. My Ebay buy a Tydol Ethyl globe on a Capco. Kinda plain but I like it. Then I got this Monarch Ethyl globe from a fellow old gasser. I got this 2 1/2 gal Owens Motor Oil can from another old gas member. I got this because my youngest son is named Owen. He thought it was cool. The Mobilube with the Gargoyle on it I got from Dustin. These signs I got from the Vics auction. The Turtle Wax lights up. Well that is all for me. Have a good one [This message has been edited by gasoildude (edited 03-09-2007).] [This message has been edited by gasoildude (edited 03-09-2007).] [This message has been edited by Lastgas15 (edited 03-10-2007).]

on imageshack select either: Thumbnail for forums (1) for a thumbnail pic that when clicked gets larger or select: Hotlink for forums (1) to post an actual size pic.If you select this option be sure your pic size is 640X480 or smaller to aid those with a dial up connection from waiting long periods for pics to load.
