I don't know how rare this pump is but you definitely don't see them sitting around on the farms much anymore. It is a SSE DMB 150 porcelain panel Gulf pump. I'll have to strip all that paint to see how good or bad the porcelain is.

I got real LUCKY on this one today. A Church member of ours told me that another member had this old pump on their old homeplace. I went and asked the lady and she said "oh yes I remember playing with it when I was a kid watching the hands go around" Now she had my attention and I tried to not get too excited. To my surprise this old pump was only a few miles from my house but the old farm is at least a 1/2 mile off the road. Needless to say it couldn't be seen unless you went up to the house or it would have been gone a long time ago. She said only one person had tried to buy it and they only offered $25 for it. She said she had no clue to its value but guessed it was worth more than that. I caught her at a good time and she said it was an eyesore and wanted it gone so she wouldn't have to mow around it anymore. I offered a fair price and she tried her best to give me $50 back but I would not take it. I got a good deal anyway. It seems to be complete minus the reset knob and if anyone knows where I might get at least one porcelain face like that I sure would appreciate the info.

PS: The porcelain panels on this pump are 3 colored, orange on the lower half then a blue strip, then white on the upper half. I have seen pumps painted like this but never the porcelain ones like this. All the other porcelain paneled Gulf pumps I have seen are solid orange panels. I don't know if this is more rare or not?

One thing for sure, the more you mess with these old pumps the better you get at taking them down. I was by myself and the lady wondered how I was gonna get it. I had the panels off, unhooked it from the tank, power unhooked, loaded and heading up the road in less than an hour! I think I broke my old record. LOL!!

Great find Mike! Here is the one I found on a farm a few years back. I am still undecided on whether to clean it up and leave it as is or strip it and start a complete restoration. Good luck with yours they make a great looking pump when finished.

I've been on a roll lately finding them, its the "obtaining" part that I am having a hard time with. One guy who's still using his tall 39 to pump diesel did give me a lead on a junkyard that may have a pump or two laying in a heap, going to check it out on Saturday. Thrill of the hunt!

I finally got 2 panels stripped and man were they tough. It had 2 thick layers of orange and a layer of primer. The porcelain isn't all that great but I'm just going to touch it up a bit and leave them alone. I just couldn't see filling and re-painting those original panels. I think it gives it character. What do you guys think, looking better so far? Lots more to do! What kind of No- Knox Decal would have been on there originally?

Looking good Mike. I like them a little rough. Doesn't hurt so bad if something brushes up against them.

Mike, looking good after the stripping! As for the decals the 10 inch round blue No-Nox Knockproof with the ethyl logo would be the correct one. I'll dig up some original photos tomorrow or scan one of my originals if no one else comes up with a picture of one first. I don't believe anyone is making repros of these yet but I am sure someone out there can help with that!

Mike;
Go down to "Tokheim 875 GOC Pump"
It's a pump I finished 'bout 3 mos. ago.
NO NOX DECAL came from Memories Restored, down your way.. I'm now working on a "That Good Gulf" pump. All orange....
