This months POTM is the Bowser 575. Bowser began manufacturing lubrication storage tanks and pumps in the 1890's and gasoline pumps about 1905 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Bowser 575 was produced between 1941-1948. This pump could be obtained with or without a add glass panel above the face. The Bowser Alzak pump light can also be mounted on this pump.

The breakdown on this pumps is of a Bowser 575 HC.

The base is 17 3/4" X 22 3/4" X 7 1/2" tall. The base and frame are welded together

The frame is 20 1/4" X 11 1/2" X 67" tall.

The light assy. consists of three lights with a push pull light switch. The switch is installed on the same side as the crank.

The door latch is installed on the frame so the latch handle is on the same side as the crank.

This next picture shows the meter brackets, meter, and door latches installed on the frame.

The picture below shows the hinges. The large hinge is installed on the bottom of the frame.

This is the hose roller assy.

This next picture is the hose roller assy. installed on the frame.

The access door is 7 1/2" X 5", and is the same size as a Bowser 585. The repo Id tags are made for the 585. You will have to drill new holes in the 575 because the tag sits to hight on the access door. The crank is also the same on these pumps.

The sides are 11 3/4" X 62 3/4".

The nozzle receiver and bezel are the same as the 585. This particular bezel was chromed not stainless steel. The picture also shows the nozzle rest assy.

This side shows these parts installed.

The top is 12" X 20 1/2" X 3 1/4" tall.

The following pictures show the parts used on the doors. The glass for the window is 13" X 16". The doors are 22" X 66 1/4". There is a front and a back to these doors due to the hose guard on the bottom. You could weld in the holes and re-drill them on the other side then the door could be used on the other side. The stainless side trim and stainless window trim are the same as used on the 585.

This is the finished pump done in Gardner Gasoline. The PPG colors are DCC 9000 black and Fleet FDG 412570 Green, which is a very close match to the green on the decal.

This is all I have so lets see so more pumps. I will be glad to post any pictures so just send them to me. Richard

There has been a question on how the nozzle goes in the nozzle rest so here are some pictures showing it. The first picture shows the nozzle in the rest with the gate closed. A lock can be installed.

The next picture shows how the nozzle rests between the nozzle hanger and nozzle hanger pin.
