This is an old Signal Gas station that is being restored in
Portland, Oregon by developer Rod Phillips. The station is located at 8302
N. Lombard Street in the St. John's area. The latest images show the restored
gas pumps have been installed. The building is constructed of sheet metal
in an art moderne style with neon accents along the architectural lines.
It opened for business in 1939. The gas pumps are Bennett model 541. The
signs are custom reproductions. The St. John's Signal Tower Gas Station
has been nominated to the National Register of Historic Places. |
