hi guys just wondering if anyone has experience delivering something someone bought from Canada to the USA. Reason I ask is that I have a sign I want to sell, but don't want to get into shipping it . I thought however that I could possibly offer bringing it to Carlisle as an option for the buyer. I am not sure if legally I can bring it across the border to sell to someone or if they have to do that on their own? any guys from Canada bring stuff to a show in the USA ? Thanks

What the border guys have told me: You can go down into the US and buy a sign and return home with it--the same with the US guys, they can go into Canada and buy a sign and return home with it--duty free. There may be some PST or GST in Canada, I don't know? If it is shipped to the US, or you bring it down with the intention of selling it, they consider it a commercial venture and its liable for duty and sales tax and such. I think you would also need a broker to handle the transaction. The best thing is for the buyer to pick up and pay for in the country of purchase. Its very simple when that happens and gets ugly when you are shipping! That's all I know!

I've been selling a lot of car parts lately and ship them from state side. Shouldn't be a problem at all, just make sure you have a bill of sale filled out and you need a CBP form 7523 filled out. The last time I went over a couple weeks ago with stuff they charged me about $10.00US to bring it over.

We live close to the border and take stuff both ways over the border all the time. I'm actually amazed at how rarely they send me inside to pay anything. Just be honest, have all your papers in order, and be friendly.

You cannot personally, take a sign into usa to sell. But you can take it into usa if it has been pre-sold (paid for) and you are delivering. Just have a bill of sale and proof that it has been sold to someone.

It looks to me like they have regulations in place and it all boils down to who is at work that day and if they are in a lazy mood or not! LOL
