Hello all, I am putting the Tokheim 39 Short back together and I cranked over the veederoot and I got it to turn only once. It will not crank over any more. What am I doing wrong. Please help

Other than it might be needing a good oiling...Make sure the nozzle fork (On and off switch for the pump)is all the way down.. If its up even a bit it will keep VR from cranking. Hope this helps...

You didn't say if it was installed back in the pump or on the bench yet. Either way, it could be sticky and probably needs a little WD40 like Brian said and the slotted dog that is on the side shaft has stuck and not popped back into the start position. I never usually reconnect the nozzle fork linkage to my vr's when I'm restoring the pump, it's just something else to line up and get into sync if you want to just have the computer crank over and reset with the handle anyway. If you'll look close, there is a small plate on the main shaft that turns with the crank on one side. The plate has a slot in it and there is a spring that returns the plate when you release the handle or are turning it over with a screwdriver in the slot on the end of the shaft if it's on the bench. If the plate doesn't snap back into place with the little dog going into the slot, it won't release and reset for the next revolution. Sometimes if the computer is pretty worn or really sticky you have to turn the crank shaft back a little by had to get it into the reset position so it will turn over again. Here's a picture that shows what I'm talking about, it's the slotted piece at the top there in the middle above the crankshaft. This one is setting in the reset position ready to turn over again....hope this helps....GB

Yeah, like Gary mentions about the reset. I see that problem quite often, sometimes you just have to slow down and watch the cam, sliders, and springs on the meter and see where they hang up in the reset stroke. Usually you can manually work it and then figure out a way to improve it by bending tabs a little, making clearance or tightening springs up.

Ok,I got it turning. I sprayed it down with the lubricant and let it sit for a day and it loosened up. Thanks for all of your help.
