I inherited a Hayes 10 gallon visible pump from my Dad. The pump is missing the hose, the nozzle, and a handle that appears to have been used to set the number of gallons dispensed is broken off. (There is a slot with notches to the right on the side opposite the door.) The handle to pump up the gas is also broken or cut off inside the pump. I am planning to rig something to attach this handle to so it could still be moved, any ideas? My dad had two advertising globes but the bonnet(?) on the top of the cylinder doesn't appear to have originally had a globe attached. The bonnet has 2 holes in it but there don't appear to be any matching holes in the flange that goes on top of the cylinder. The serial no. appears to be 13891 but is difficult to read. The frame around the door is stamped C12. There are 2 holes in the door. One near the top appears to be for a lock? I don't know about the one on the right side of the door. Will adding an advertising globe hurt the value? It has 2 tetraethyl lead signs. What types of signs are usually added. I don't plan to sell the pump but I don't want to destroy it's value either. I haven't figured out how to post pictures yet. I would appreciate any help/information anyone can provide on this pump and restoration. P.S. I ordered Jack Sims pump book today.

That looks like a cool pump. Adding a Globe wont hurt the value at all. have fun with it ...its your pump. Do it whatever brand/color scheme you wish. Welcome to your new addiction :-)

The hole on the right side of door is to lock up the nozzle at nite. On most Hays pumps, the bonnet was not bolted on. Probly the 2 holes are on top of bonnet?, they are for the globe ring bolts.
All the Hays pumps that I've seen, the pump handle was a piece of 3/4" pipe welded to a 1" at the bottom and bolted to the pump mech.
