I was surprised that the Harley sign in yesterday Aumann Auction went so low. Was anybody else? The last sign aumann sold went for $45,100 in 2004. Now that one had both sides and was in better condition but the one yesterday was bought for $1400. What gives? Anyone have an opinion? There was a lot of discussion about that sign and some differing opinions as to its authenticity. The auctioneer basically said they couldn't/wouldn't guarantee it was not a repo, so the bidding went accordingly. It looked pretty good to me, but I've never seen an original in person, so my opinion's not worth much.

I had an original one of those once, and the biggest difference I see from the pics is that the one in the auction did NOT have the "EVERBRITE" sign co makers mark on it. All the rest of the originals I have seen have it in the lower middle.

I was told by a very informed person that it was definately NOT an original Harley sign,, he had no doubt about it.. I think the price dictates that, it only brought $1400 ,,, just think if it were original ??

Aumann sold a original double sided one years ago at the Peterson Museum collection that brought 41,000.00.Also beware of a black and orange early looking flange sign with heavy shelving porcelain,Harley never made one !
