Looking for tips on distressing/aging a reproduction globe. It looks too new and shiny on an original pump. Not trying to sell or deceive. It just seems out of place on my old rusty patinaed pump. Thanks.

White plastic body, bead blast, paint lightly with flat black, then blast away the paint to give right look. Glass can be scratched on the inside with steel wool until you get it. Metal is basically the same. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

Paint let dry, put a thick coat of elmers glue on while wet pat again and as the glue drys it shrinks and crackles

I use crackle finish from Lowes and apply a latex paint over it after it dries. Then brush on a water base stain to fill the cracks, wipe it down with mineral spirits to suggest weathering. play with it until you get it just the way that you want. If you mess up...remove it and start again. Have fun...Dave
