I'd say 40's/50's tractor or stationary engine. The glass fuel bowl, positioning of the filler neck, the stand-offs, and the bolting brackets make me think it's a medium small tractor. Which one is the question.

Looking at the tank more, it's likely 1930's. The seaming on the tank is more typical of earlier styles rather than 40's/50's. You might try one of the vintage tractor web forums to get it pinned down.
