I have a couple of the painted Mobilgas keyhole signs. The signs were wrapped together with a piece of bubble wrap between them. I was moving them today to make room for a few other things. I unwrapped them and found the bubble wrap had left marks. When you get a light to glare, you see these small round bubble pattern on the finish.
I've never had this happen. I even checked some of my other painted pieces that had bubble wrap and they are fine. Really upset about this. They were in great shape. Has anyone else had this happen to painted signs? Is there away to get rid of these marks?

I have-on my cans. Washed them and they've "disappeared". Or I can't see through the old eyes and glass in the display case. I now separate bubble wrap from items with a layer of paper, cloth or such stuff to keep from imprinting the bubble marks on the item.

Go to the auto paint store and get some "swirle remover" polishing compound. Won't hurt the surface.

...I've had bubble wrap (the small bubbles) actually craze the paint on an older can, right down to the metal...no way to polish that out...wasn't too happy about it...
Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

gulfiend!, luckily I caught it before it got that far but still sickening. Just knowing those marks are there ruins my day when it crosses my mind.
Old Racer, thank you for the suggestion. Sorry for not following up sooner. I've been tied up with the Warrenton/Round Top show here in Texas. I will give it a try. Thanks!
