On a hinged door pump, identifing a left or right hinge, which way do you look at a pump ? With nozzle on which side looking at face ?

Sometimes that can be hard. Some pumps have the hinges on the nozzle side and others on the reset side. The other issue is deciding which side is the front. Most collectors I talked to consider the side that has the nozzle closest to you is the front, the others consider it the back. I would face the door you have in question and look to see if the hinges are on your right or left. This way it does not matter what kind of pump it is. Some pumps use one door for both sides like a Bennett 646. The door on a 646 has hide mounts on the left and right.

I sometimes mentally ask myself, "does my wife look better from the front or the back?" Then I realize she looks great from any angle, there is no front or back.

A good way to look at anything.

Many pumps have access doors with a lock. I have found that the latch side of the door is closest to the side with the access door, meaning the hinges are opposite. The rest of the pump being front or back is not really critical.
