I believe this title fits the story. This might get long but trying to tell it the best I can to appreciate it all that it is.

Many of you that are frequently here on Oldgas know the story on Kevin Frith’s Wayne 50. How it was found and bought but for those that haven’t here is details to the best of my knowledge in a short version.

A friend and classmate of Kevin’s had found this pump on his travels picking years ago. Kevin had tried purchasing but no luck. His friend puts it on EBay and then has second thoughts and offers it back to Kevin and a deal is made. Kevin does an excellent and extensive restoration on the pump and it sits in his collection for the next few years.

Going to sidetrack for minute on my story on my meeting Kevin.

Kevin and I meet at a car show in Kevin’s hometown about 13-14 years ago, the start of my collecting gas and oil. Kevin becomes a mentor and friend to me in this crazy thing of collecting gas and oil. So as the years go by I frequent his house and drool over his collection. I always loved seeing the 50 and the displayed pieces inside.

Now back to the 50. My wife and I about a year ago had stopped at Kevin’s place to get something. Our wives were in the house visiting so we went out to the shop. We are visiting and the 50 comes up about possibly being for sale. Then Kevin proceeds to tell me that it actually came from the junkyard outside my small hometown! Which I live less than a 1/2 mile away from as the crow flies! I am in shock as I can’t believe it. We leave and on the ride home I tell that story to my wife.

The next few days go by and I can’t stop thinking about it. I contact Kevin and we work out a deal on the pump I had to bring it back home. As I believe it couldn’t have traveled very far to that junk yard. And as I stated in the title I believe “It was meant to be”

I am truly grateful to be able to purchase this pump and add it to my collection.

And even more thankful to have meet Kevin and his wife Lori!

Some pictures of Kevin and I and the pump loaded and in my new shop.

Les

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I will enjoy this pump until it’s my time to pass it on to the next caregiver.
