I inquired about this pump last winter from the station owner and his brother. They had been asked many times before and always the answer was no. Then today, out of the blue I get a call that they are interested in selling it! I almost hate doing this, but this is out of my area of expertise. I've have a good relationship with these 2 gentlemen buying a couple things from them and want to keep things fair for all parties. If you were offering to buy this, what would be a fair and reasonable amount to offer or settle on??

I'd say 400 or 450 would be fair to both parties.

What you are looking at is a ECO 97. This model number is the wall mount. It is almost impossible the tell the year of the unit, without seeing the ID tag on the back. From the picture I can tell that the wheels are made of metal, so it must be from between 1947 and the early 1970s. It appears to be in good condition, but again I can't see all of it. I would state that on Ebay this unit would bring between $500 and $600, depending on who is looking for one.

In that condition, still hanging I think $250. is more than fair, You can find them at any Gas show for 4-450. they are not rare by any means, just desirable. they can still be found at stations mounted and in back rooms for 100. if your patient

I'm with KZ, $300.00 is the absolute tops I would go. The key word in your post is 'fair', neither party is getting taken advantage of at that price. If they want top dollar they could always take it down, clean it up, and lug it around to some shows and try to sell it that way.

That's the kind of info I was hoping for. A nice well rounded and civilized group of opinions. Jack, once again you are a fountain of information. Wes I thought there may be instances of prices in the range you were quoting which is good to know especially for the future. I had a figure range in my head and I was close to what KZ and Ohio figure. Ohio is right in that I am interested in being as fair all around as possible, and that to me, does make a difference. In the end, it may not be enough, though. But it's a starting point. Once again and as always, my thanks to all you guys for helping out when I'm unsure.

I would agree, $300 would be fair to both parties. If he wanted top dollar, as someone stated, clean it and take it to shows, auction, etc. I always let them price their stuff, not me.

I am always looking for ECOs (even though I own about 40 of them), and I walked the entire Columbus show about three weeks ago. If there had been any at $300 I would have scarfed them up, $400-$450 depending on condition. Everything I saw was above $500.

When I put a value of $550 on the wall mount version, in my Air Meter Identification book, they were actually bringing around $650 on Ebay. Pedestal units were bringing around $750. Because of economy and everything else, these Ebay prices have dropped about $100. And almost everyone put on Ebay sells.

Yah thats a beauty!! I figure that restorable cores are gonna be $300 and if you can get it for less, all the better. I would think the guy would jump at 300 but go whatever you can afford, these little beauties aren't getting any easier. BTW, if the meter doesn't cycle, or work, remove the main valve, its a big brass valve that has 3 air lines going to it, and clean it. It might be stuck; 99% of the time thats the culprit..

BTW I notice that the glass is missing, if you buy it, try and salavage the rubber that held the glass in. We sell a replacement but it isn't as good as the original.

Also, we give you a free glass and rubber when you purchase the charome from us.

OK boys, I made my pitch and the owner has agreed to sell it to me (you'd be jealous if I told you the price!) I'm going to be buying it over a small period of time so it's not in my possession yet, but it will be!!

Jack, the glass is missing and one of the numbers on the right dial is missed up (dented), but the little handle, which he dug out of a drawer, does still crank and turn the numbers but I am told it does not actually operate. Also, the ID plate is there with all the numbers, but I can't tell what number gives date of manufacture. All minor things to be learned and fixed down the road. I'm just stoked to be buying one practically in my backyard.

Over the years it has been given a brushed on white paint job that I hope to have redone. Can't wait to start learning some new things.

As I mentioned before we have every part in stock.

After you get it, either post here or send me the Serial Number info. from the ID tag and I'll tell you the year it was made, maybe even the month.
