Thank you for your responses to my question about Ebay # 280081528904. Living in farming country, it sort of surprises me that a lot of other areas did not have #1 pumps. I ate breakfast this morning with a Mobil bulk dealer that has 6 pumps on his route that are still strictly #1. He only fills them with #1 in the winter as the power ect. is not as good with #1 and he also noted that there are no #1 or 2 signs that he knows of on any brand pump in this area today. The six stations that don't fuel blend just do not want to take any chances with their diesel customers having gelling problems with the sub zero wx we have been experiencing. Pictures of my deceased fathers Texaco stations and bulk facilities don't show the diesel pumps that were always in the back. I was young and never paid any attention. I know on our farming operations we ran a mixture beginning every Nov 1st in our 4 wheel drive John Deere tractors and combines ect. from the 60's thru the 90's so no chance of gelling and having down time. Here at Norther Il Univ all of our diesel is blended also before it arrives just like at the BP where I buy mine. So my question has been answered that #1 signs of any vintage are very rare. I wonder how many different diesel signs besides the red and green ones I have were made? I have looked at many books but could never come up with that info. Diesel signs for Texaco were as follows: (This is from memory, so forgive my leaky brain)

There was the red thick spray that was discontinued at the start of WWII as the sign looked like the Japanese Rising Sun flag (at least according to rumor). The was Diesel Chief, Diesel fuel, Diesel L, the #1, and #2 signs and there was a fairly rare Auto Diesel sign in the 60s. There was also a small version of the diesel sign too. There were also a couple of versions of Diesel marine, green and gold. I will post a picture of my diesel signs later.
