Hello everyone from the Florida Panhandle. Although I have been reading all of the great information here for awhile this is my first post. I am new to the gas pump hobby. I collect old traffic lights, old cateye marble highway signs and some RR stuff. I have given a shot at restoring my first pump. It is the very common Tokheim 39 short pume. Nothing Fancy. Mike thats a super Job , considered you did it in a Plastic spray booth . I have often considered doing that hopefully when I do I'll get the same results , again that is a great Job

Thanks for the nice comments. Mick, My next project will be an Eco Air meter (which I know nothing about). I am trying to learn about them. They really seem pricey, even the old beat up ones. Oh well. I have found in stuff I collect the chase is 75% of the fun.

The hole you filled at the top of the panel was for a pricer (or something) sign. If you had looked down in the hole you would have seen a threaded hole, a pin screwed in there. The sign, or what ever it was (nobody has ever posted a picture of what was susposed to go there) was held on to the pin with a special brackt. Have found many pumps with the pin and bracket, but what they were really used for I have not been able to determine.

Great website. I wish that there were more detailed examples of restorations like this to use as a resource. I'm fond of a website for Pontiac enthusiasts which has an area of their forum where there are posts of frame-off restorations. It is facinating to see where something came from and what it looks like when it is completed.

Very impressive. I love the detail. I too have a porcelain pump and have wondered if epoxy primer would work well on it. I was told epoxy will adhere to glass and "should" work on porcelain, but no one I've talked too has actually done it. Thanks for sharing.
