Hey all have a chance to get a old sign at a decent price. Guy says it was completly covered by latex paint and now alot of it is off. He's just sick of doing it and spending the $$ on stripper....??? Anyway it it possible to use a paint stripper to get the rest off?? If so what is the best non porcelain damaging kind?
Mainly focused on Oilzum, Jenney, Harris Oil items & original paint gas pumps.

Citristrip from Home depot
biodegradeable, thick goo you leave on overnight or for several hours, skim off the crud. or it falls off. nice orange smell.
It worked a lot better than the flammable stuff .
plus you didnt have to work on it.
slap it on then come back hours later to wipe it off.
it does dissolve plastic
you can use the others on a porcelain(make sure its porcelain!) sign

I've had Real Good luck w/ the cheap stuff [BIFF]. Pour it on & let it sit.

there is some paint remover that antique furniture restorers use that is great however you need a liscense to buy it...so if you know any antique furniture guys they may know of this stuff & already have the permit to get it....i just had a very big porcelain sign that was not flat, it had curves & hard to get at places & this stuff worked great......

I use aviation stripper from my parts house, in 10 minutes what is there is off.

Yeah the aviation stripper is pricey but it sets for about 10 min and the paint comes right off, get the good stuff at the auto body shop, costs about 39.00 gallon
