Hello All, I am new here and have always been interested in old gas stations. In the late 40's and early 50's My Dad and his brother owned an Atlantic Richfield Gas Station. I used to hang around and sweep up and clean up in general. I just built a new 24 X 48 shop and want to do it up in early 50's gas station look. I guess I am just an old Geezer trying to relive my youth? Any ways I'll keep my eye on this board and try to gain some knowledge and maybe something to buy for my new shop.

Hi Donn, Welcome to Oldgas.com Shop Talk. Nothing wrong with celebrating the good old days. Having a few items around to bring back some memories from the family working together at the gas station sounds good to me.

Hi Donn, Welcome to our site, you will get a lot of valuable information and some good ideas as to what type of collectibles you want to display in your garage. I live in Missoula and built a 1000 sq. ft. garage with 12' walls and heated floor 2 years ago and I have almost filled it up with pumps, signs, globes etc. It won't take you long either.
Good luck!
Freddie

Hi Donn, welcome to oldgas.
Hopefully you have some electrical conduit installed in your pump island so you can light up your pumps.
Make sure to post some pictures of your progress.

Welcome to oldgas. As you can see I am also new here and it is a great site. I could not agree more with Gasmansgp's comment. My shop is not much larger than yours and I am wishing it was bigger already. Anyway you will have a blast filling it up.

Ah Yes I remembered to pipe in 2 electrical conduits and a 3 inch galvinized pipe for a sign or light. Yeah I know no matter what size shop you build it will be too small but i neesed to save some money to start my petro collection.

Greetings Donn and welcome to Old Gas! I started this addiction 5 years ago and my little 30 by 40 building is at the point where I have to take something down and sell it in order to put something new up! Its a great hobby and will take up just about all of the extra time that you have and it will be by choice too! Again---Welcome to Old Gas!!!

Hi Donn,
Welcome to Oldgas. With your interest in old cars and trucks I think you are going to find a LOT of company around here.
I got into petro stuff years ago to go along with old trucks and tractors so in a way I have been through where you seem to be heading. They make a great combination and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
