I want tell you something that happened to me recently and why I am disappointed. Someone of you will remember that I posted some pictures of my pumps. When I did it I received some emails by other collectors, someone asked me general information, others asked me if I had to sell some signs, etc... I was very glad for receive these emails by other collectors. One among them asked me if I could find for him a petro stuff (I don't want tell what he asked and I will not write his name because I'm not a spy...) and ship it to him. I immediately replied him that it was ok and that I want try to do my best for find to him what he asked. I also said him that I like help others but that what he asked it isn't easy to find. I did my best and I made some phone calls, then I asked to a friend and one day I made 40 miles for go to visit a man that has some petro stuff and 40 for return. Unfortunately I didn't find it. After more than one month of research I decided to replied him for say that I was very sorry for haven't found the stuff, and at the same time I also asked if he had pumps for sell. He answered me that he had a pump for sell. I asked him which model and the price and after his reply I was very glad because I liked a lot this model. I replied fast to him and I asked if he could ship to Florida where I have a friend that ship one or two containers per year of motorcycles to Italy and he can put the pump inside. He replied me that he could ship the pump to Florida. I was very happy because rarely people ship large objects. I replied immediately to him telling that I was happy to have found that pump and I asked to him if it was possible to send $500.00 for hold the pump two weeks, until my return from summer holydays. He send me the following reply:
If you send me $500 I’ll hold it for you for a couple of weeks until you get me the rest. No problem. But please let me know for sure if you’re going to take it or not, because if you’re not, I’m going to advertise it on xxxxxxxxx for $****. I’m trying to make you a good deal since you do have to pay for shipping as well. You can send the funds to: xxxxx xxxxx
This reply was sent on Friday and my leaving was the next day. I wrote an email explaining to him that I was really interested on his pump and that it was impossible send money in a day from Italy to the States with a check so I asked if he accepted Paypal and I also asked his phone nr. because I wanted ask to my friend in Florida to call him for explain well that I really wanted this pump and that it was just a question of two weeks. He send me his last email with the following reply:
Sorry Enrico, I thought you could send a check. My phone # is ***-***-**** . I’m willing to work with you, but do need to receive some money on it soon so that I know you’re serious.
I replied to him with the following email
Hi ****,
now here is very late and I will only can read your reply tomorrow. Sure I want the pump but how can I send you money only with your home address? It only remains tomorrow then I'll leave and if you accept PayPal is possible but if not it can only work by wire bank tranfer. In this case I need of your bank details for send money, but buy bank it is not immediate and it will take some days before you get it. Please don't advertise it on xxxxxxxxx because I really desire it. I just ask you a little patient until we find a solution for arrange things. Tomorrow I will search my friend in Florida and I hope find him before I leave. Please give me your phone nr. and I ask him to call you. I really do not want lose the pump because from here is very difficult to find another one.

My friend tried to call him many times but he never found this man. I left from vacation very sad because I was really disappointed because before I tried to help him doing phone calls, doing 80 miles for go to search what he was searching and I never permitted to ask money to him or telling him that I need know if he is serious, etc. What I don’t understand is this mistrust like if I am a swindler or a not serious man, and then why this urgence... After the favour I gave for him he couldn’t wait two weeks? I can’t believe that!! I know that in this world is full of swindlers but not all are like this. Then here in Italy and Europe when we buy something for hobby or work we made all transactions by banks, it is the most sure and inexpensive method and the only one that take a risk is the person that send money. For this reason I don’t understand this mistrust.
After one month I left maybe he still has the pump but I want he know (if he read this text) that now I will not accept his pump even if he give me it like a gift. It is only a question of coherency. My parents learnt me to be honest and I thanks them for that.
