I curious about which pump manufacturers /oil companies offered pad locks with their logo on them. I've seen a Texaco, but wonder about Wayne, Tokheim & others. I'm kinda of looking for a Wayne lock if there is such a thing.

I've got a Tokheim lock for my 871 pump, don't know who the manufacturer was but it has the Tokheim logo on one side and is steel and brass...

Not sure about Tokheim or Wayne the only locks I have are both Champlin oil company and were made by Best. I have seen a Conoco lock also. Jack  [This message has been edited by Jack R (edited 08-02-2008).]

what is the little doohickey on the side for?
Looking for gas,oil related clocks,especially neon and spinners .clock repair available. Mick

For a lanyard or small chain. It's so the padlock stays with the pump.

You also need to consider that these locks were also used to lock the lids on underground storeage tanks.
The tanker driver only had to carry one key to drop product after hours for all of the stations on his route.
At least that was the way Marathon did it when I was a dealer.

Marathon still locks station tanks. Here is a WB from the 1950's and one we use today (on right). The locks we use on tanks today no longer have the company name. The 1950's Ohio Oil lock had a Steel shank, and the shank came in different lengths.

Reminds me, in the winter whenever a new hire couldn't stick the tanks at closing because a lock was froze, we would tell him to get a lighter and heat the lock up. Most would head out the door lighter in hand. lol.

It took me years to find these 3 w/keys for my Sunoco pumps. BEST brand with SUNOCO on opposite side.   I use them to lock the handle to the pump..  [This message has been edited by coldpizza (edited 08-10-2008).]
