Well Im a newbie at least here, but Im not a newbie in real life . Im an old duffer. I am going to try and restore an Erie model771 pump and really dont have much knowledge of the workings I can do everything but the computer I think and would like to learn how to do that . I know I can buy one rebuilt from Joe Yocum but would love to learn as I go, is there any place I can get any basic info or detailed info to help me out?If anyone wants to know any more about my hobbies I have been building and restoring race cars hot rods and customs since the 50's and am now starting in on Rc airplanes too Im not much of a flyer but I have learned how to rebuild a bunch of em Mtn. Tried that & Boats & cars, was spending more Trying to master than what a Real Boat cost to keep in the water!

Start by just replacing 1 set of VR wheels AT A TIME.

Now there's a great thought I can do that me thinks

1st one I tore apart too far & ended up sending it to a land fill.
You'll need a 1/4" shaft cut to length to push out the old shaft. Take LOTS of pictures & Notes as you go.

Mtn Mike I used to build and fly RC Planes and then got into building and flying RC Helicopters. Although it was expensive and time consuming I loved it. But over time I got away from it and now I am once again in another expensive hobby, Gas Pump restoration, starting out that is. Take care and keep in touch. Hugh

Thanks to evervbody that answerd my call for help. I am going to start out slow and hope I dont get so deep that I have to make a trip to the land fill. I think I am going to try and just clean it up as well as I can without too much dismanteling, it really isnt all that bad ,at least I can rotate everything. Right now one of my questions is where all of the pieces go that attatch to the out side of the computer such as the levers and adjustable??? linkages and how to put the numbers on the wheels correctly, any ideas there? thanks for any help. and thanks Jim for getting me squared away on the sign in. There is only 1 adjustment on a computer.
It is on the wheel shaft gears.
pay attention to the notches in the shafts, they need to go back the same way.
pins are tapered and only come out one way.
replace all washers to the same location.
collars with the pins have to go back in same direction, pin hole is off center.
I have been doing them for almost 25 years and the decals STILL give me headaches.

Thanks a lot Joe I really appreciate the heads up especially on the offset pins and notches in the shafts. rest assured you will be the first to know if I screw it up too much.really the only thing that I am going to require is that it is clean and looks right and will display the numbers like I want is that feasable or am I kidding myself?
