I've been lurking outside the premises of this site for a number of years and have finally emerged to participate. Thanks to DB, here I am. Hi DB!
Okay, here is my situation: Sentenced to partake in my wife's family gathering for Christmas in Santa Cruz, CA, I'm wondering if there are any gas geeks in the area that might want to rescue me and show off their collections.

you have a number of collections within a 5 hour drive but no one close that I know of. I'm about a 4 hour drive south of Santa Cruz and there are a large number about an hour south of me. You are welcome down here as long as you have your vacsanations all in order and a passport Ray

There are a couple of nice collections up in Santa Rosa which isn't quite so far. One of the guys here can hook you up with those collectors. Also you are really close to the Baja Cantina in Carmel Valley which has an awesome gas geek and racing display, plus you can get a decent Mexican lunch. That's definitely worth the drive to see from Santa Cruz. Here's a photo:
