In the process of restoring my "cut down" Bowser 575 "Pig in a Poke" I thought I would post a video of the way I got the Veeder-Root computer to rotate. The hard stuff is done, all it needs now is the Momentary Switch put in the pump nozzle to start it and stop it. Making this video is easy now without the panels on. I just thought others might be interested in giving their restorations a little something, other than just standing there looking cute, also. J.Yokom restored the Veeder-Root and did an amazing job, Thanks again Joe. The motor is a Hurst GA model that is no longer made, but still for sale on the internet. This one is brand new off Ebay for 20 bucks. It requires a capacitor that the guy sent with it. It is wired between the white and red wires. The other wire is black. For counterclockwise you use the black and red wires, for clockwise use the white and black wires. This one is 10 RPM, If I do it again I will find one that is 15RPM or 20RPM. The joint and motor mount I made. http://youtu.be/uGuCEZntCkQ

Cool you can double the output with a 20 tooth gear and a ten tooth gear or any gear set up where 1 is 1/2 the teeth of the other, but there will have to be a gear between to keep rotation the same direction.

Really great job. You'll have to post more information on the motor and where to go looking for one!

DB; That's a neat video, good place to post it cause it is easy for me to find. Did you like my "Pig in a Poke" quote? 20 years or so ago we made a video similar to that for our company (started in 1903 and bulldozed in 2010) but it is on video tape, I think I am going to have to find someone with a VCR so I can make it into digital format and post that on you tube too, thanks for the idea. JY; Ya know? I am embarrassed that I didn't think of that. I wouldn't even need the extra gear for direction control, just reverse the motor, I'll work on it, thanks. Your right you should have a facility like that in your shop, after all, the quality of your work is just as good or better than they are doing.
KW; I just Googled Hurst GA when I saw this one on Ebay. Got all the information there along with other places to buy them. I didn't get the info on installing the capacitor though so I called the company and they sent me the info on Email, that's why I posted it here. These are called Synchronous motors, whatever that means, I'm not an electrician.
Jim and rls: Thanks.

These are what I use to turn Clock Face/VR Mech's. I get them at a surplus/recycle tool place near here.

Have no idea where/what they were used on, but are 120V & speeds vary w/ ea [20-60rpm]. Here is one hooked to a Tok Clock Mech. Brass rod is what I had handy which is a bit Overkill! Because of potential marring/scratching of paint w/ a nozzle switch, I install a receiver for a Remote switch that I can turn on when I'm out of sight & admirers are looking at pump. Kids think there is an electric eye somewhere that activates the motor!
