Looking for sdvise. I am restoring a Wayne 70. It came to me with the Mobilgas Flying Red Horse globe and metal signs for Mobilegas front and rear and metal signs for Unleaded on each side. These signs are not suitable conditon for display on the newly painted pump.
I am looking at new metal signs in the supplier's catalogs and I see that decals are also available. I am considering using decals in place of the metal signs. Comments?

I ahd some signs made by Tway graphics and put them on thin magnetic material. they look like signs and they come off and on easy. You don't need to drill holes and if you want to take decasl off they are ruined. I have also seen the magnetic signs with pictures of screw heads as well and they look like real signs.

I'm finishing up my W70 as a Mobilgas Special, and am going to use the porcelain shields/signs. According to PMC's Guide to Gas Pump Restoration, during 1946 and early 1947 a decal was used, the porcelain sign was introduced in 1947.

If a pump was made in 1940, any advertising past 1940 would be appropriate. Untill the time the pump became obsolete. Oil co's were always updating advertising on older pumps.

I would use a Porcelain Sheild insted of a Decal. The Porcelain signs make it look alot a better, Decals look kinda Cheesy in my opinion. But the water Release decals look great on the real old pumps for Example, Visibles, and Clock faces. What are you going to do with signs that came on the pump?

Pumps don't multiply around here, other things do.
